Rotating Equipment Reliability Engineer #1709

Location: New Orleans, LA
Salary:

Reliability Engineer reports to the Maintenance Reliability Supervisor and works closely with the Operations, Engineering, and Maintenance personnel to identify reliability issues and provide recommendations for improvements on rotating equipment. Typical equipment includes pumps, compressors, motors, turbines, gearboxes, fans/blowers, mixers, etc. Past experience in maintenance and/or a processing facility is preferred; a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Leads reliability investigations for process equipment and provides/implements recommendations for improvements.
  • Participates in the preventive/predictive maintenance programs for process equipment including review of vibration analysis, temperature analysis, oil analysis and compressor performance monitoring.
  • Develops and reviews scopes of work for outside shop repair work on rotating equipment fully utilizing the knowledge base of refinery resources
  • Works with the Maintenance Area Foreman and Planner to provide field direction during equipment repairs and troubleshooting.
  • Evaluates new equipment and facilitates training of employees on proper repair/operational techniques.
  • Assists in the implementation of the refinery’s Mechanical Integrity Program and make recommendations for its improvement.
  • Provides recommendations for spare parts for rotating equipment.
  • Is utilized by the area team to provide recommendations for improvements and provides feedback to Engineering on the maintenance perspective of new installations.
  • Acts as the project manager for identified rotating equipment projects. • Directly supervises mechanical engineering interns and co-ops.
  • Member of the Seal Improvement Team.
  • Works with Corporate Rotating Equipment Specialist to improve reliability of the refinery’s top bad actors.


Requirements
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering
  • 3 years or more of directly related rotating equipment maintenance and/or engineering experience is preferred. Experience in directing maintenance work and supervising hourly craftsmen is a plus. Proven experience in completing reliability investigations, pushing problem resolutions, project management, root cause failure analysis, and life cycle cost analysis would also be beneficial.
