Refinery Metallurgy Engineer #1068
Location: Baton Rouge / New Orleans Corridor, LA
Compensation: 100-125k + aggressive bonus plan

Job Description:
As a metallurgy engineer with my client you will interface with maintenance and engineering in order to make decisions associated with material selections including metals, non-metals, and coating systems. You will also provide support on a major expansion project. You will introduce and manage Risk Based Inspection and Fitness for Service Programs to reduce production losses related to corrosion and degradation.
Responsibilities:
- Identify corrosion mechanisms and establish inspection programs to monitor those mechanisms.
- Review welding/welding metallurgy and repair procedures (preheating, stress relieving, hydrogen bake-outs, etc.) and perform filler metal evaluations.
- Perform heater tube remaining life evaluations, carbon-1/2 Moly equipment evaluations, and fitness for service analyses.
- Evaluate failure analyses findings provided by others.
- Management of the cathodic protection system at the refinery.
- compile/monitor our chemical treating vendor corrosion coupon/probe data.
- Review Inspection TAR/Shutdown recommendations, etc.
Requirements:
- BS in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgy, or Materials Science
- 5+ years experience as materials engineer in a refinery or petrochemical plant
