Fixed Equipment Engineer #1062

Location: Houston, TX
Salary: 85 -120k with profit share and full relocation.

Would you like to work as a fixed equipment engineer at one of the largest oil refineries in the US? This large, heavy crude refinery is an excellent environment for a fixed equipment engineer and the company offers diverse career opportunities in Houston in other plants and in their central engineering group. The key job duties area:

  • Ownership of fixed equipment engineering technical support operations/maintenance/turnaround planning. This will include: field troubleshooting, repair scope development, materials specification, training, and interaction with operations/maintenance/contractor personnel. Primary role is to ensure that equipment integrity is maintained.
  • Facilitation of expense level projects, including multi-discipline and fixed equipment specific projects, in accordance with expense project work flow process (EWR).
  • Scope and facilitate cost effective modifications/upgrades/additions to existing equipment and piping within the Crude Unit, in accordance with engineering standards and the Management of Change process (MOC).
  • Develop Phase 0 project scopes (PIF’s) for major expense/capital projects within the unit. Manage expense AFE projects for fixed equipment and multi-discipline projects.
  • Provide fixed equipment technical support for capital projects in the unit. Responsibilities include engineering standards review/approval, equipment specifications review/approval, drawing review/approval, interfacing with vendor representatives, bid evaluations, and ensuring that new equipment will meet company standards.
  • Technology owner for fixed equipment engineering standards. Review/update standards to keep up with current technologies and industry trends. Review/approve exemptions to the standards when necessary.
  • Support fixed equipment issues in other areas of the refinery as required.
  • Provide detailed, accurate specifications and instructions to Purchasing for new equipment and component quotations and requisitions.
  • Conduct root cause failure analysis and incident investigations as required to prevent repeat failures and make improvements to existing procedures and standards.

Qualifications:
BS ME with 3 years engineering experience in a chemical, refining or other process related facility.
